As most temperature exchange equipment (refrigerators, air-conditioners, etc.) contain refrigerant gases, specialized, high cost processes are required for their safe and responsible recycling.

CRT Screens will be processed to separate the hazardous leaded glass and luminophosphor powder from other recyclable fractions.

Ewaste Africa is the market leader for lighting waste recycling, operating the biggest and first HH licensed facility in South Africa. We have recycled over 12 million light bulbs to date.

96% of the components of a solar panel are recyclable in South Africa. The panels will therefore be manually dismantled, with the photovoltaic cells (4%) being shipped to international partners for further recycling.

Large WEEE will be dismantled to enable the separation of the constituent materials, which can be recycled.

Small WEEE will be dismantled to enable the separation of the constituent materials, which can be recycled.

IT and telecommunication equipment will be manually dismantled, as the components are often of a higher value and therefore should be separated as efficiently as possible to maximise the potential rebate for our clients.

Cables removed from all e-waste, together with other cables will be shredded and separated using density classification.

Alkaline, NiMH and Li-ion batteries are made safe for shipping according to international standards and are shipped to our international partners. Lead-acid batteries are sent to local recyclers.

Ewaste Africa has invested in a fleet of vehicles ranging from one ton bakkies to a sixteen ton truck. We understand the last-minute needs of clients and pride ourselves on our short turnaround time.

Ewaste Africa in partnership with UKZN and the technology innovation agency have set up an LPX machine recycling system, which is available for resale locally and internationally. This technology is IP protected and the first of its kind in the world.

Ewaste Africa has secured the technology rights for numerous recycling machines within the lighting and e-waste recycling sector. We have years of experience in designing, building, installing, and commissioning of specialised recycling equipment.
