EWaste Africa, a lighting and electronic-waste recycling company, has begun work on a prototype rare earth metals recycling facility in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.

In May, the company announced an agreement with the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) that grants EWaste Africa exclusive access to the intellectual property that will allow for the construction of the LPXTM Plant, a prototype chemical process plant for the recovery of rare earth metals from lighting waste.
